Moment Poem

"Driving to Work"

It seemed like just another morning,
driving in the car, I turned onto the freeway
looking at the car ahead of me

I barely saw it at first,
like a little piece of trash blowing across the road
at closer inspection within a split second
I saw it's little legs running for the safety of the shoulder

Across two lanes this tiny kitten fled
it almost looked like he had been hit a few times
my heart sank pounding into the brakes
that I knew I couldn't hit
not at sixty miles an hour

I quickly saw him scramble out of the way
as I prayed he was alright
I knew there was no turning back to see

  1. They were driving at 70 miles per hour
The mother was the only one to scour
The mirrors, the horizon, and the road
    Looking for even a toad
    Her concentration was cracked
For her kids in the back
Then the tragedy began to unfold
A chance of death stood puzzled on the street
Waiting for it's eyes and the lights to meet
When the two finally came the clash
Boom, their lives came to pass

a bike chain it was all in an instant
the sound made ears swell and eyes leak
i turn around and take a peak
and as i do i tremble inside
as the ambulance scream "she is not alive."

  5. It was any snowy day in Dallas
driving on the highway passing the wax house palace
cars went pass like it was a race
my turned to me in the snow always keep a pace
next thing you know you hear a loud crash
    the whole highway was trash
you hear the police and ambulance come
if you were real quite one car still made a humm
that same car pass us not to long
who would of knew life in snow could be gone
it was a college couple coming to see family and friends
it's sad how there new beginning had to come to an end

  6. The car feels heavy
As if someones been pulling it back
As I get on the right track
    A child comes out running
    My heart feels an ache
    I immediately hit the break
    The child and I
    See eye to eye
He decides to slowly walk by
As if no regret came in mind
Everything looks clear and I drive by

  7. Slow breathing, a lot is heating.
We came alive in the night time.
Close together, crazy hair, laid back
Pulled hair back, yours eyes ,your lips
    My adrenaline just cant quit.
Out of breath you can see my heart outside my chest.
Close your eyes, don't forget ,you voice I wont forget.

  9. I'm always sitting in front, outside,
watching all the people pass by.
They walk together with so much pride,
and I'm here thinking well why not I?
It was a Monday's lunch right then,
    I was sitting here alone.
Thought that this would never end,
but then you come from the unknown.
I was distracted by your smile,
I couldn't help but stare for a while.
You came up, stood 5 feet away,
and the first thing you said was, hey.

    1. In this spot i sat for hours on end contemplating
the day went on and the clouds moved with time
a girl walked past with much beauty and class, the
cars would stop as her dainty steps seemed as she walked on glass.
My eyes were amazed, the actions had me puzzled
i stared to the sky for a rebuttal.

    Living a life that obeys
