I walked a mile with Pleasure;
She chatted all the way;
But left me none the wiser
For all she had to say.
She chatted all the way;
But left me none the wiser
For all she had to say.
I walked a mile with Sorrow,
And ne’er a word said she;
But, oh! The things I learned from her,
When sorrow walked with me.
And ne’er a word said she;
But, oh! The things I learned from her,
When sorrow walked with me.
-Robert Browning Hamilton
This poem caught me a little off guard. I don't fully comprehend its meaning.
ReplyDeleteI followed her
ReplyDeleteI trailed behind he and Sorrow, as she walked and talked a mile. Of that chat they had all I heard him say was "Don't believe her- Sorrow." I couldn't help it though, I just wanted to cry. "She needs to leave" I said, "I can't help but be shy." I want to breath and feel the way you do. Look at you all happy and proud, but is it really true? How can you not see her when she's here in the room?! Don't leave me alone...Okay fine, I love you too Sorrow.
Sorrow walks with like my shadow walking this mile but for what i don't need her shes not my keruch.
